Julius Henry Wagner, 76, of Route 1 died Saturday, August 24, in Lakeland Hospital at Woodruff, Wis. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been ill for five days. (Mr. Wagner had been in Wis. on a vacation and fishing trip.)
Mr. Wagner was born in Madison Township on july 31, 1892, to Albert and Elizabeth (Birk) Wagner. He was married to Martha Berger on Dec. 29, 1917. Mr. Wagner, a retired farmer, was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. he was also an active member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau.
Survivors are six children, Mrs. Jesse (Marie) Holderbaum of North Liberty, Mrs. Herman (Lucille) Mitchell of Wakarusa, Robert of Nappanee, Eugene of Bremen, Paul of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Vernon (Elizabeth) Hochstetler of Rolette, ND., 32 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Vernon, died in March, 1968.
Survivors also included three brothers, Charles of South Bend, Ernest of Gillman, Wis., and Martin of Bremen; four sisters, Mrs. Victor (Clara) Berger and Mrs. George (Bertha) Nusbaum, South Bend; Mrs. Fred (Freda) Hoffman, Lakeville, and Mrs. George (Olga) Frick, Mishawaka.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Zion United Church of Christ with The Rev. Robert Oleson officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
