Richard W. Ingram, age 77, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at his home in Cumberland, RI, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Houston, Tx, on May 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Red and Livvie Ingram. He was raised in Pasadena, Tx, where he met his high school sweetheart, Jeri Mackey, while attending Pasadena High School.
Following his graduation in 1961, Dick began taking courses at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Tx. before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country in the 204th Military Police Co. Fifth U.S. Army, and while on active duty, he returned home to marry his beloved wife, Jeri, on Feb. 20, 1965, in their hometown of Pasadena, Tx. Returning to the Army, Dick shipped out to Panama spending more than a year away from home. He was honorably discharged from the Army in May, 1967 after earning the rank of Sergeant.
Upon his return to civilian life, Dick and Jeri settled in their hometown, and Dick took a motorcycle patrolman's position with the Houston Police Dept. Three years later, Dick received the call of God to become a minister and became very involved in their local church, Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena, Tx. He quickly enrolled in Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Tx, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. His first assignment was at Centerwood Assembly of God serving as Associate Pastor. In 1974, he packed his family up and headed north, settling in Coventry, RI, where he served as Senior Pastor of Gospel Temple Assembly of God Church. Six years later, Dick and his family returned to Tx., making their home in Deer Park. While living in Deer Park, Dick ministered to his community as Senior Pastor of Agape Church in Pasadena for ten years. Once more Dick packed up his family and returned to the northeast, spending a year in Sturbridge, MA, before settling in Walpole to serve as Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center on Elm St. Dick and Jeri went on to make their home in Wrentham and then Franklin. The church relocated to High Plain St. in Sharon with the new name of Victory Church. During this time, he also served as Presbyter for the Southeastern MA Section of the Southern New England District. In 2016, Dick officially retired as the pastor of Victory Church, and he and Jeri settled into their home in Cumberland, RI. Together they maintained their dedication to Victory Church where Dick continued to serve as Pastor Emeritus.
While Dick truly dedicated his life to God and his family, in his younger years he made time for some simple pleasures, including riding horses, playing golf, tennis and racquetball. However, he was happiest when he was surrounded by his family that he loved so dearly.
Beloved husband of Jeri Ingram. Loving father of Kimberly A., & her husband, Thomas Murphy of Plainville & Kristina R. and her husband, Timothy Chambers of Woonsocket, RI. Cherished grandfather of Cody and his wife, Sierra, Kaylee Brooke, Christopher, Corey and Chloe. Brother of the late Frederick Ingram and the late Gary Ingram, and his surviving wife, Beverly, of Deer Park, Tx.
Pastor Ingram's Wake will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Victory Church on 67 High Plain St. in Sharon, MA. The funeral service will be also held at Victory Church on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 11:00 am.
