JUDGE SETS ASIDE 5 DAY LAW FOR THANKSGIVING WEDDING DATE

Red tape with which the last legislature wrapped the "gin marriage law" was cut yesterday by Judge Horn so that Murrel L. Roberts, 21 year old Holly youth and Mildred Lois Orr, 17 from Mc Clave can be married on Thanksgiving Day.
Judge Horn ordered the couple an immediate marriage license so the ceremony can be performed on the holiday after they had been informed in the county clerk's office they would have to wait until the day after turkey day before the five days "limbo" would expire. Thanksgiving does not count because it is a legal holiday and the county offices are closed.
Miss Orr's father, R. E. Orr signed an affidavit agreeing to the ceremony. The law requires that parents permission must be secured before a license can be issued if the girl is under 18.
The couple plan to be married by a minister in Hartman the couple said. Theirs will be the only wedding in Prowers County.
Thanksgiving day is also the birthday of Mr. Roberts.
