Shirley A. Bailey, 85, formerly of 84 Prospect Street, died Monday April 26, 2021, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

She was born December 7, 1935, in Chautauqua, NY, a daughter of the late Elmer and Sarah Miller Himes.

She was a 1953 graduate of Frewsburg Central School and a 1975 graduate of Jamestown School of Practical Nursing.

She was employed as an office nurse by several doctors in the Jamestown area including Dr. George Connor and nurse practitioner Heidi Stricklund.

She was a member of Wiltsie Community Church where she served on the worship team. She was a former member of Ivory Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary, music coordinator, taught the 6th grade boys Sunday school class and sang in the choir.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, making quilts and just being at home. Following retirement, she and her husband ministered as a team to the elderly in people's homes providing home healthcare.

Surviving are five children Gale (Rod) Button of York, SC, Joseph (Paula) Kobalka of Columbus, OH, Connie Kobalka King of Ashville, Timothy (Rose) Bailey of Jamestown and Renee (Warren) Shulze of Olean; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; brother Clair Himes of Sugar Grove and two sisters Fern Hiller of Frewsburg and Janet Renschler of Westfield.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Kobalka whom she married in 1957 and who died in 1962; her second husband Robert Bailey whom she married in 1964 and who died in 2021; a daughter Carol VanStee and 10 siblings.

A graveside service for Mr. and Mrs. Bailey will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA, in the Summer of 2021. Visitation will not be observed.
