Edgar Bradford Sr., 80 of Columbia, earned his wings on Sunday March 14, 2021. He passed at his home, the Villas of Columbia, MO.
He was born to the late Jake and Idelle (Dunham) Bradford December 5, 1940 in Columbia, MO.
Raised on Cemetery Hill, and weddings, he granted us seven gifts of love who produced grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children; One Son; Deshawn Bradford and daughters; Sylvia Bradford Jackson, Denisha Bradford, Shaneice Lucas, Ashley Gay and Shantelle Miller; all of Columbia, MO. One Sister; Katie Reynolds, his Grandchildren, Great-Grands and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & Friends.
He was proceded in death by one Son, the late Edgar E. Bradford Jr., eleven brothers; Bill Warren, Mason Warren, Jake Jr. Bradford, Jimmy Bradford, Floyd Bradford, Joe Bradford, Rucker Bradford, Scotty Bradford, Tommy Bradford, Floyd Bradford, and Ollie Bradford and two sisters; Belle Peyton and Idelle Martin.
He attended Douglas and Hickman High Schools, retiring from the City of Columbia in October of 1998. He worked as a volunteer at Truman VA Medical Center, worked as a bouncer and security guard.
Edgar loved sports; during High School he was a football, baseball and basket ball player, as well as, a young Columbia City Boxer, many remember his Golden Glove days. He was an advent bowler and baseball player throughout his senior years. He enjoyed so many things, but his passion was fishing and spending time with family, who many, joined him on those fishing trips.
During the 1960's he was a member of a gospel band called the Velvetones. Previously, he was a member of Log Providence, Progressive, and All Peoples church families, but most recently, he was a member of St. Luke where he enjoyed singing and often rendering special selections. He also loved whistling which gained him the nickname of "The Whistler".
Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:30 PM at St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday at the church.
