- The funeral service for Mary Ethel Mathis of Anniston will be at Gray Brown Service Chapel at 2:00 PM on April 28, 2021 with Rev. Hayward Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Edgemont Cemetery.
She is survived by her four daughters; Cheryl Gantt, Delores Smith, La Dayne Borders and her husband, Randy, Marilyn Roberts and her husband, Jerry, nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and her "adopted" daughter, Malinda Smith and her husband Jerry.
Mary Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Mathis, her parents, Clarence and Madge Allison Richardson, her two brothers, Charley and Jimmie; grandsons Charley Richardson II and Albert Richardson, a great granddaughter Riley Speed and a beloved son-in-law Daniel Lafayette Gantt, Jr.
Mary Ethel requested no flowers and that any memorials be made to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam Way, Randleman, N.C. 27317 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, Fl. 33607 and acknowledgement to Delores Smith, 165 Easy Street, Anniston, Al 36207.
