Doug was a 1976 graduate of Ballard High School in Louisville KY. After leaving high school, he obtained his real estate license and worked with his father as a real estate agent in Louisville. While he was good at real estate sales, it was not his real passion.

He helped train and educate many friends who wished to work in the landscaping and lawn care fields even when he could no longer do the work himself.

He lived for many years on Skycrest Boulevard in Fruitland Park, FL. During his many years there, he took care of many of the residents as they aged and could no longer care for themselves. He made many friends in the area and had a real gift for listening to and caring for his neighbors.
Doug will be cremated, and his remains returned to Mt. Washington, KY where he will be placed to rest with his father, Ray, and his uncle Roy.

Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Lady Lake, FL.
