Monica Armida Martinez, age 31, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 10:33 P.M. on her birthday, Saturday, April 24, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. She was born on April 24, 1990, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the Marcos R. Martinez and Michele Marie Bogardus.

Monica is survived by her loving father, Marcos R. Martinez of Centralia, Illinois; mother, Michele Marie Bogardus of Centralia, Illinois, daughter, Armida Michele Rosa Martinez; aunts, Sandra Bogardus of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Carlota Tortialla of Central City, Illinois, Christina Gonzalez of Centralia, Illinois, Maria Martinez of Antioch, Illinois and Corina Santana of Chicago, Illinois; godparents, Artie Martinez and Jennifer Warren; and cousins, Christina Gonzalez, Jerry Courtney, Leslie Courtney, Melissa Courtney, David Lietner, Teresa Brown, Tracy Brown, Anthony Lietner and Elice Lietner.

Monica was preceded in death by her grandparents; uncles, David Bogardus and Teddy Lietner; and aunts, Denice Brown and Elizabeth Sloan.

Monica was raised in the Catholic faith. She enjoyed writing and drawing. She was a very witty person and had a great sense of humor. She had many interests, including cosmetology and culinary arts, especially loving Chicago regional foods. Monica was full of life and was happy to be here. She was known to be a beautiful woman, a beautiful mother, and a beautiful daughter. Monica was a mother, who made sure her daughter, Armida, was happy, safe, and okay. She cherished the time she spent with her family, and dearly loved her cousins and aunts.

Monica was a cashier at Casey's General Store in Centralia, Illinois. She lived in Centralia, Illinois for 8 years and was raised and formerly lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin for 21 years.

It was the wishes of Miss Martinez's family to have cremation rites for her.
