Patricia M. "Pat" Simmons, 70, of rural Parsons, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born on December 6, 1950, in Eldorado, Kansas to James and Ruth Evelyn (Myers) Green, Sr. She grew up in the Wichita and Denver areas, attending schools there. She went on to attend Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas where she earned an Associates's Degree in Veterinarian Technology.

She and John Simmons were united in marriage on September 11, 1987, at the Galesburg United Methodist Church. He survives of the home.

Pat lived in various places across Kansas eventually settling in the rural Parsons area. She worked at the Allen Veterinary Center in Parsons as a Veterinarian Tech. She then went on to work for Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, while owning and operating her own business, Simmons Dog Grooming. Pat spent the remainder of her life farming and tending to the animals on the family farm.

Pat's labor of love was providing care for animals. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, putting together puzzles, playing board games, and dominoes. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband Pat is survived by two daughters, Dawn Scott of Lawrence, KS and Michelle Ray (Paul) of Eudora, KS; 16 grandchildren, Ethan Cornell (Karlin), Tim Norton (Paige), Tori Janssen (Trei), Keenan Kelly, Javiar Scott, Tiffany Sallee (Drew), Legend Coonfield, McKenzie Helm, Savannah Leochner, Madison Sanchez, Carissa Ray, Chris Ray, Sophia Sanchez, Riley Ray, Nicolas Ray, and Hailey Norton; six great-grandchildren; her brother, James "Jim" Green, Jr. of Galesburg; and a host of relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Edward Gensheer.

The family would like to thank all of the health care professionals that provided Pat with excellent care over the years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Galesburg United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shella Choi officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Galesburg. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall funeral Home in Parsons from 6 to 8 Friday evening. Memorials are suggested to the Labette Health Foundation for the Employee Assistance Program and these may be left or mailed to the funeral home 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
