72-year-old Gary Eugene Hunt, a resident of Percy, IL and formerly of Wayne City, died on Monday, April 26.

He was born on February 23, 1949 in McLeansboro to his parents Samuel Levi Hunt and Ruby Mae (Laird) Hunt.

Gary was a truck driver for Gilster-Mary Lee for over 40 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers, having served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1145 in Percy, IL and a member of the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Wayne City.

Gary is survived by his significant other of many years, Glenda Reitz of Percy, IL; a son Jimmy (Cheryl) Hunt of Percy, 3 daughters: Lucreta "Lucy" (Andy) Gilbert of Spanaway, WA; Patricia (Michael) Morrison of Murphysboro, IL and Sara Inselmann of Percy; a sister Louise (Ron) Webber of Mt. Vernon, IL; a brother Ronnie (Debbie) Hunt of Carlyle, IL, 3 step-children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, a son Scottie Hunt, 2 brothers: Herman Hunt and Jim Hunt, and a grandson Thomas Scott Morrison.

Burial: Baltimore Cemetery across from the church.
