Mr. John "Johnny" Ingram Brandenburg, Jr. age 19 of Chicago, Illinois formerly of Grays, Kentucky passed away in Newton County, Indiana in 1983.

He was the son of Cleta Louis Brandenburg of Grays, Kentucky and the late, John Ingram Brandenburg. He was the brother of Jonathan Brandenburg, Jason Brandenburg, Bobby Brandenburg and Teresa Thomas all of Grays, Kentucky, Karen Brandenburg of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Lisa Vanover of Woodbine, Kentucky, Mary Payne of London, Kentucky and Brenda Johnson of Tennessee.

The family of Mr. John "Johnny" Ingram Brandenburg has requested that ALL SERVICES BE PRIVATE. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky.

On October 18, 1983, a middle-aged couple gathering wild mushrooms discovered two partially buried alongside an oak tree close to an abandoned farmhouse in Lake Village, Indiana. The couple immediately reported their discovery to the authorities. Investigators combed the scene.

The murder victims included John Ingram "Johnny" Brandenburg Jr, Michael C. Bauer , John Daniel Bartlett and a still unidentified African-American male victim known as "Adam"/"Adam Doe".

Brandenburg, previously nicknamed "Brad" while unidentified, was identified by the DNA Doe Project on April 25, 2021, having gone missing in May 1983.∼*UPDATE*

Gender: Male
Height: 5'2" to 5'11"
Weight: 160 lbs. with an average build.
Hair Color: Reddish brown or auburn, wavy and of medium length.
Eye Color: Unknown
Distinguishing Marks/Features: Homemade tattoo of a cross with two dots or dashes above the horizontal found on the right forearm, palm side closer to the wrist. A second homemade tattoo is of a rectangle or U-shaped design with dot located on the outer right arm. He had severely fractured his nose earlier in life and also fractured his left ankle.

Mushroom hunters found the victim in a shallow grave on an abandoned farm near Sumava Resorts, off US-41, a half mile north of SR-10. The victim was found along with three other victims. Two of the additional three victims were identified via dental records. The third victim, 999umin, remains unidentified.
