Doris Charlene Carter, 64, of Waycross died Monday evening (April 19, 2021) at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness. Mrs. Carter was born in Waycross to the late William Vester Carter and Carolyn Cleo Stanfield Carter and made Waycross and Homerville her home most of her life. She worked as a housekeeper for several years at local nursing homes. She enjoyed a good soap opera and loved to fish. She was an exceptional cook that enjoyed quality family time.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three children, Sunshine Bowen, J.R. King, James King and a brother, Terry Carter.

Mrs. Carter is survived by a daughter, Shannon King husband Kenneth of Waycross; nine grandchildren, Mary Bowen of Hinesville, James Rowland of Hinesville, Destiny Rowland of Waycross, A.J. Padgett of Alapaha, Skylar Lankford of Valdosta, Amber Sweat of Waycross, Cody Sweat of Waycross, Austin King of Manor, Trinity King of Manor; three great-grandchildren, Damon Rowland, Isaiah Harris, Junior Harris; a brother, Perry Carter wife Doreen of Atlanta, Georgia; a special cousin, Sharon Oglesby of Waycross; a special friend Jerry Pittman pf Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held Saturday (May 1, 2021) from 11:00am-12:00pm at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
