Mrs. Rogers was born in Enfield, CT on May 18, 1928 to John and Mary Zaczynski. She married Mr. Clayton T. Rogers, Jr. in 1950 when they were employees of Bigelow Carpet Company. While Mr. Rogers spent most of his career with Monsanto Chemical the family lived in the New England area, St. Louis, Boston, as well as Philadelphia and Durham, North Carolina.
Wanda was a homemaker who raised three children and supported her husband's career through his advancements. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and crossword puzzles. She volunteered in several capacities throughout most of her lifetime, including helping with Brownie Scouts, tutoring elementary school students, and volunteering at the cancer ward at Duke Hospital. While residing in Durham, she was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. An avid Jeopardy fan, she was also an ACC sports fan, and cat and dog lover. She is predeceased by her husband, and her older brother Frank. She is survived by three children: Marianne Elebash, Carolyn Rogers, and Clayton Rogers, as well as her son-in-law David, 2 grandchildren, John and Michael, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger brother Richard, a niece Stacy, and a nephew Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 2:00PM Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from St. Matthew Catholic Church. Fr. Robbie will preside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
