Colerain, NC - Stephen Brooks, 49, finally won his two-year battle with throat & neck cancer. He is finally pain free. We all know he had a love for fried chicken, and we know when he got to the golden gates there was a plate of fried chicken waiting on him And an ice cold BUD LIGHT.
Stephen leaves behind his caregiver, his wife, Susan Owen-Brooks; stepdaughters, Savannah Goddard, Miranda Goddard, Brooke Jones, and Candice McFarland; seven grandkids, Cailynn, Caileigh, Callie, Callen, Cooper, Trevor, and Cody.
He leaves behind his mom Judy Brooks, and his brother David Brooks. His in-laws Gene Kuntz and Sherry Kuntz, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Michell Brown, who were there to help if needed, and his best friends Jeff Liskey and Guy Liskey.
Stephen loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed the love of the outdoors. Stephen was known for his kind heart would do anything for anyone.
His last words were We Got This and Keep FIGHTING. He never gave up. The strength Stephen had to the end.
Stephen wanted to be cremated and his wife fulfilled every wish he had.
Stephen asked of one thing from everyone: drink a few Bud Lights in his honor.
A memorial cookout is in the works to honor and share memories. His wife Susan will let you know the date. She did tell Stephen when the weather was just a bit warmer he smiled.
Stephen walked to the heavenly gates. There to greet him was his dad, Larry Holland Brooks.
