Zachary Steven Hoover, 20, passed away Monday evening at his Altoona home surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, son of Steven J. Hoover and the late Marla J. Hoover.

Zachary is survived by his father, Steven and step-mother, Leslie R. Hoover; sisters: Stevie J. Hoover and Marty J. Hoover; a brother, Owen J. Hoover, all residing at home; a step-brother, Quinten A. Fletcher and wife Heather of Philadelphia; a step-sister, Ariana E. Bittner of Clearville; and grandparents: Gerald J. Hoover of Altoona and Eva M. Helsel of Hope Mills, NC.

Zachary was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bellwood. He enjoyed his work at Meadows of Greenwood and studied Electromechanical Engineering at Penn State Altoona. Zachary enjoyed building computers, electronic gaming, golfing, astronomy, and sport shooting. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his close family and friends. His faith in God, optimism, and encouragement of those around him gave Zach strength to battle cancer. He was well-cared for by the staff at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

At Zachary's request, private family services will be held.
