Aged Woman Burned to Death
Mrs. Johnson, aged 89 years, was burned to death on the farm of her son, Ollie Johnson, east of Paris, Wednesday afternoon. She was alone at the time the tragedy occurred. The aged woman had gone to the pasture some distance from the house to dispose of a dead hen and indications were that the fire she started under a brush pile to burn the hen caught her clothing. Later in the afternoon, Mrs. Alice Johnson becoming uneasy at the long absence of her mother-in-law started in search of her. The body was found about 30 feet from where the brush pile had been. Burned grass and broken weeds bore evidence of the struggle that occurred before death.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her aged husband and two son, Ollie and Ira Johnson. She was a member of the Baptist church.
