He was raised in Topeka, Kansas, where he taught high school music and became a graduate of the University of Kansas.
Jim finished his career as a Mechanical Engineer/ Project Manager for Worley Parsons. He was a member of the Alumni Association of the University of Kansas, as well as a 50 year Master Mason of Scottish Rite Bodies of Topeka.
James is survived by his wife, Terrace Dinehart; his brother, John (Ngoc) Zimmerman, of Topeka, Kansas; and his niece, active Naval Officer, Nelly Rice.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Danna Zimmerman; son, Robert Zimmerman; and his parents, James Edward Zimmerman, II and Edna Zimmerman.
