Tommy Ray Ferguson, age 79, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 25, 2021, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1942, in Clay County, the son of Carlin William and Gladys Pearl (Stanford) Ferguson. On March 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Anna Miner in Randolph County, and together they have celebrated 58 wedding anniversaries.

Tom retired from a career as a natural gas pipeline superintendent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and past member of the American Legion. His spare time was often filled with playing golf and cards. He was a member of the Flora Elks, and past member of Oak Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Anna Ferguson of Flora; three children: Tommy Ray (Lesley) Ferguson Jr. of Mahomet, Anthony Dale (Dena) Ferguson of Carterville, and Christina (Joe) Krutsinger of Flora; eight grandchildren: Jenna Ferguson, Tara Ferguson, Allissa (Jordan) Ellis, Christopher Ferguson, Zachary Fenton, Harley Ferguson, Kelsey Krutsinger (Cole Honeyman), and Allie Krutsinger; three great-grandchildren: Brody and Reed Fenton, and Maverick Ellis; and a sister: Sarah (Jim) Hayes of Flora.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Ferguson, Joy Ferguson, Ruth Cavins, and Wayne Ferguson.

A memorial ceremony honoring the life of Tom Ferguson will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with military funeral honors presented. A memorial visitation will be held from 2 until 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
