Funeral services for Wayne Young, 71, of Gilmer, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 22, 2021, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with James Grunden and Larry Sewell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hugo, Oklahoma.
Wayne was born October 5, 1949, in Amarillo, Texas, to Cecil Robert and Adell Ross Young and passed from this life April 17, 2021. He worked for Upshur County Sheriff's Department until his retirement in 2005. After his retirement Wayne traveled all over the United States delivering feeders for Outback Wildlife Feeders. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Beard; son, Dustan Young (Tina); daughter, Kristan Propes (Robby); son, Jerry Beard (Brandi); sister, Lana Turner (Charles); grandchildren, Hayley Young, Haygan Young, Brantly Propes, Emma Propes, Jerry Beard, Kate Beard, Olivia Beard and Luke Beard; great grandchild, Dax Fulton; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Robert Young; his mother, Adell Ross Montgomery; his stepfather, Troy Montgomery; and by his son, Rustan Young in 2009.
