Jean graduated from Mercyhurst College in 1954. She started her teaching career at Millcreek Junior High School and then taught Spanish and English at Wattsburg Area High School/Seneca High School for 31 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a beloved teacher and for many years served as the yearbook advisor, which she greatly loved.
Jean was raised to love thy neighbor as thyself. She lived that philosophy all her life, always putting others before herself. She had a great social circle of friends, family and former students and colleagues. It was common for Jean to see and be warmly greeted by former students, everywhere she went. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, gifting friends, family, and even her doctors with her beautiful creations. She loved to travel and have lunch with her widows and teachers groups. She had many pets, with many rescues among them. She was a proud member of the P.S.E.A., the St. James Bowling League at Eastway Lanes and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Duda (Ken) and Terry Hallamyer (Jim); one brother, Charles Drouhard (Joyce); daughter-in-law, Becky Rose; seven grandchildren, Richelle Baima (Steve), Shawn Lewis, Andrea Hallamyer, Kenny Duda (Jessica), Stepfanie Duda, Michael Duda (Jenny), and Catherine Duda; four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Jaelyn, Eli and Maisie; many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends of her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lewis on February 14, 1984; her son, Thomas R. Lewis; two sisters, Mary Ellen Beall and Elizabeth Kochert; one brother, Ralph "Dick" Drouhard; and one grandson, Jeremy T. Lewis.
