Vanessa K. Robinson, 64, Marion, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Grenada, Mississippi, on June 20, 1956, to Joseph Applewhite and to Rebecca (Roach) Blackmon.

Vanessa graduated from Marion High School and attended Los Angeles City College in California. She had worked as a caregiver at ResCare, as well as several years at Fort Wayne State Development Center. Vanessa liked fishing, talking, and thrift shopping. She was always one for a good deal. She loved her family and enjoyed being around people. Vanessa was a member of Trinity Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Marion.

Survivors include her mother, Rebecca Blackmon; son, Marcus Robinson; daughter, Jessica Robinson; grandsons, Hassan Muhammad and Hashim Muhammad; granddaughters, Nia-Iman Muhammad and Taylor Williams; grandson, Rodney Williams, Jr.; sisters, LaVeta (Edward) Jones, Paula Robinson, Cassandra Streaty, Laquerita Blackmon, Kathy (Noland) Toliver, Crystal (Rodney) Williams; brother, Gary (Ophelia) Robinson, Sr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Applewhite; step-father, Jesse Blackmon; brother, Eddie George Curtis; uncles, Thomas Roach and William Roach; and aunts, Dorothy Roach, Rosa Johnson, and Elizabeth Mitchell.

A service to celebrate Vanessa's life was held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Trinity Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 2001 S. Gallatin St., Marion, IN., with Pastor Stanford Bolden officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
