LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, 2021 at a 2:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Joseph Adam "Sam" Alleman, age 82, who passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Maison de Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Deacon David Menard will officiate at the services.

Mr. Alleman was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Duson having been a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He worked for various construction companies throughout the Acadiana area for thirty years.

Joseph "Sam" Alleman was a kind-hearted, loving family man. He was the poster boy for Cajun culture: as a young man, he lived off the land through gardening, raising animals, and hunting, and spent his nights entertaining family at home by feeding them and playing cards. In his later years, he devoted his time solely to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, and enjoyed every moment of spoiling them and being a bit of a prankster with them. They will all miss him dearly, most especially Mrs. Laura, his lovely bride of sixty-two years, but they will cherish the time they spent with him as his memory will live in their hearts forever.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Jane Alleman; two sons, Terry Joseph Alleman and Marshal Alleman all of Duson; three daughters, Ida Vidrine and her husband, Mitchell, Christine Ritchey and her husband, Richard, and Annie Mae Parker and her husband, Larry, all of Lafayette; eleven grandchildren, Raegan Alleman, Dustin Alleman, Anthony Alleman, Austin Vidrine, Peyton Vidrine, Joshua Campbell, Claudia Ritchey, Kylie Ritchey and her significant other, John Ross Nash, Brooke Arceneaux and her husband, Josh, Dylan Forrestier and his significant other, Chadon Boudreaux, and Tristan Forrestier; eleven great grandchildren and one on the way; three sisters, Evelyn A. Leger of Lafayette, Deanna Richard of Scott, and Rosella A. Richard of Church Point; and one sister-in-law, Betty Alleman.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jerome Alleman; his parents, Forestier Alleman and the former Ida Thibodeaux; one brother, Rodney Alleman; two sisters, Sadie A. Lavergne and infant sister, Elda Jane Alleman; and one brother-in-law, Ricky Richard.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Monday until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Austin Vidrine, Dylan Forrestier, Joshua Campbell, Richard Ritchey, Burke Alleman, and Linke Alleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitchell Vidrine and Larry Parker.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
