ROBERT'S OBITUARY
Robert Bourke Crockett, 76, of Wichita Falls passed in the comfort of his home with family Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service and visitation until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with Rev. Jonathan Demma, celebrant. Rite of Committal with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wichita Falls.
Bob was born March 5, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to William Alexander Crockett and Gertrude Anna (Bindel) Crockett. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving as First Lieutenant in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. Bob graduated from Midwestern State University and worked in the finance sector for 40 years. Bob was a devout Catholic who served as an altar boy and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus council number 10998 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Direct Descendants of Davy Crockett. Bob married his wife of almost 49 years, Deborah Jayrene Butler on June 16, 1972. They raised three daughters together all over the state of Texas, eventually settling back home in Wichita Falls. Bob was a family man who was extremely proud of all his children and grandchildren. Bob enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his roses, fishing with his grandson, traveling, and playing chess. Bob also loved playing golf with his family and friends. He had a lifetime love of the Kingston Trio and passed this love on to all three of his daughters. Bob enjoyed telling a good story, and his family and friends loved being in his presence.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Christopher and Thomas Crockett, and sister Mary Jean Davey.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Wichita Falls; his daughters Sarah Crockett (William Taylor) of Benbrook, Carla Gaines of Houston, and Anna McCain and husband, JD of Wichita Falls; his four grandchildren, Conner and Calista Gaines, and Prairie and Hazel McCain; his twin brother, William Crockett of Sherman, brother D.J. Crockett of Frisco, and sisters Catherine Crockett of Monterey, California, Sue White of McKinney, and Barbara Bohling of Ogden, Utah.
