Maxey B. Cope, 77, of 16528 13th St., Milan, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1996, at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Burial is in Reynolds Cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Illinois Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.

Mr. Cope was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Prices Branch, Mo., the son of Quincy A. and Elva Maxey Cope. He married June Marie Trout April 26, 1941, in Rock Island. She died June 21, 1991.

He retired in 1980 from John Deere Plow Planter Works as a machine operator after 35 years of service.

He attended First Presbyterian Church in Milan.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.

He was a mall walker at SouthPark and enjoyed his grandchildren's activities and traveling.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Richard McDonald, Taylor Ridge, Pamela and Frank Adams, Preemption, and Susan and Kenneth Cameron, Milan; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Vicky Cope, Orion; nine grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dessie Cope, Warrenton, Mo. A son, Roger LeRoy, is deceased.
