Birdie was a Christian in his faith. He was a 1971 graduate of Umpire High School and was raised in Athens. He was the parts manager for Glenwood Equipment Company and retired after 40 years of service. Birdie enjoyed driving the backroads and admiring God's creation. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; two daughters and one son-in-law; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother; five sisters and three brothers-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
