Joyce Rachel Montgomery, 86, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 with her niece, Phyllis Moffitt by her bedside at the Shannondale Assisted Living with Hospice Care in Maryville, Tennessee.
She attended Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Comptometer School in Louisville, Kentucky and worked as a Comptometer Operator for Heaven Hill Distillery. Joyce retired from the L&N Railroad. She graduated from the University of Louisville, where she was on the Honor Roll. She was a member of the Walnut St. Baptist Church and then a member of Southeast Christian Church. She was a good student of the Bible and understood the word of God.
Joyce had many friends and enjoyed herself, kidding and having fun. She had 3 very best of friends who she had known since the 3rd grade and they always kept in touch with other their entire life. They continued to visit her at the Shannondale Assisted Living in Maryville, Tennessee. She loved to travel and visited many countries in her lifetime. She took her mother to Jerusalem to the Holy City also. She loved her sisters and brothers and helped her father and mother when they needed her the most.
Among those who preceded her in death are her parents, Sam and Mattie Montgomery; sisters, Allie Watson, Hazel Street, Irene Melvin, Lillie Watson; brothers, Wayne Montgomery, Charles Montgomery.
Left to cherish her memory is her sisters, Reeta (Marvin) Cheek, Hellen (Harold) Rigdon and brother, Dale (Wanda) Montgomery, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
