Mr. Douglas was a retired Educator and also a retired Captain in the United States Navy. He was a member of Ripley Masonic Lodge #630, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Ripley Shrine Club. Jimmy received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He was the Rotary Citizen of the year in 2003 and was the F.O.P.'s man of the year in 1969. He received the Tennessee National Guard Commendation Ribbon in 1985. He was the Commanding Officer Persmobtm 1309 from 1979-1980.
The husband of Carol Ann Douglas, he is survived by 2 sons Steve Douglas (Mamie) of Madison, MS and Mike Douglas (Leigh) of Ripley; a brother Richard Douglas of Ripley; and 4 grandchildren Elizabeth Douglas, Scott Douglas, Ashleigh Douglas, and Maddie Douglas. He was preceded in death by a son David Douglas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church in Ripley, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
