Henry Glenn Brenton was the son of Thomas Henry "Uncle Tom" Brenton and Mary Ann Clark. He lived mainly in Dallas County, Iowa in his early years, though he was part of an abortive attempt to settle Kirwin County Kansas in the early 1870's. His first wife, Madera Mary E Harrison, bore him eight children of whom five survived to adulthood (William, Hazel, Henrietta, Gertrude, and Maude Amy). In Iowa he had been a laborer and Ditcher.
He abandoned his family around 1888, remarried and sought his fortune in White Hills and Chloride and was quite successful. He had two more children: Mayme (Aug 1889) and Robert (Sep 1892), but his new wife left him after just a couple years. His brother, James William Brenton, joined him, but committed suicide in 1913. Henry was my Great Great Grandfather and namesake, and as much as I know about him I still can't completely understand him.
