Molly Ruth Ray, 87, of Wake Forest passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2021 peacefully at home with family. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Bessie Newton Ray and Ollie N. Ray. She was preceded in death by her husband, S.V "Vater" Ray, they were married 53 years.

Ms. Ray was a devout Christian and enjoyed her church. Throughout Her life, she had numerous friends that have mostly gone on to be with the Lord. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. In her later years, she loved her quiet time spent on the back porch watching the goats or walking around outside her home with a "tobacco stick" tending to her flowers. Ms. Ray also loved to vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains with the grandkids.

She is preceded in death by a stepdaughter; Inez Jean Swift and brothers; David "Herrod" Ray, Leonard "Dee" Ray, Juddie Ray and Owen Ray and sisters; Sally Ray and Avis Ridenour.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her daughters; Rebecca Williams of Wake Forest and Betty Jane Davis of Raleigh, step-son; Bobby J. Ray of Wake Forest and a step-daughter; Lois Sherron of Wake Forest, a brother; Willie B."Shig" Ray of Wake Forest, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8pm Monday, April 26, 2021 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Wake Forest, NC. 27587.

Ms. Ray's funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham.
