George Edward Wells, age 81, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Wells was born May 27, 1939 in Wilkes County to Leonard Odell and Pearl Church Wells. He was a US Marine Veteran. Mr. Wells was a member and deacon at Baptist Home Baptist Church and a Scout Master and Leader for Troop 343 for 22 years. He worked in sales and service with the Coca-Cola Corporation. Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Wells.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Truitt Wells; sons, Mark Wells and spouse Jill of Knoxville, Tennessee, Bryan Wells and spouse Wendy of Greensboro; sister, Dare Stromer of Boomer; grandsons, Cody Wells and Zachary Wells; nephew, Aaron Wells and spouse Charlene of North Wilkesboro; great niece, Zoie Wells.
Graveside service with military honors by the Brushy Mtn. Marine Corps League Detachment #1187 will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery on Highway 221 in Sparta with Rev. Mark Hollar and Rev. Richard Peck officiating. Memorials may be made to Baptist Home Baptist Church, 2367 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to Samaritan's Purse, 411 Elkin Highway, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
