James Samuel "Sammy" Wheeler was born September 9, 1944 and he flew home to his Jesus on April 22, 2021. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 24th from 2:30 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. funeral service at Star Baptist Church in Star, MS.

Sammy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved racing. If it had an engine, he raced it. He was an avid hunter, a jokester, a faithful friend, and loved his family very much. He was a rescuer. If anyone needed help, he was always there to lend a helping hand. If you needed anything, he knew how to get it or where to find it. He was a welder by profession and enjoyed driving trucks during retirement. Most knew him by Sammy, Big Wheel, Wheeler Dealer, or Sambo. He loved life and had a big heart, even though he seemed rough around the edges.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lily Carol Gunn Wheeler; daughters, Lori Sivakumar (Balaji) and Allison Landreth (Rob); grandsons, Ian Stonestreet and Duncan Stonestreet; sister, Mary Beth McDonald; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Wheeler and his mother, Eva Claudine Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, pleas make donations to Star Baptist Church Cuba Mission Trip or you favorite Charity.
