Jane was born on 17 April 1862 at Newburgh, Fife, Scotland to David Clark Pitkethly( 20 Sep 1826-31 Aug 1902) and Janet Lawson ( 20 Feb 1829-Dec 1903).


Jane married Forester Cockburn Nicolson( seaman), son of Robert Davidson Nicolson blacksmith and Janet Worrel, on 16 January 1885 at Catholic Apostolic Church, Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland.

They had 8 children:

Jessie Pitkethly Nicolson+ b. 12 Apr 1887, d. 13 May 1954

Helen Jane Nicolson+ b. 26 Apr 1890, d. 6 Dec 1929

Robert Davidson Nicolson textile fitter+ b. 15 Jan 1893, d. 13 Feb 1951-twin

Jane died on 15 December 1936 at Royal Infirmary, Dundee, Angus, Scotland of a Cerebral hemorrhage,, at age 74 (widow of Forester Cockburn Nicolson.)

Burial: Dundee Eastern Cemetery.
