Mrs. Sandra Lynn (Scott) Walker, 68, of Calhoun, passed from this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Sandy was born on September 7, 1952, in New Castle, Indiana. She was the daughter of Elvin P. Scott and Mildred K. Myers Scott. She grew up on a farm and developed a love for horses.

She attended elementary in Cadiz, Indiana near New Castle. The family moved to Markleville where she attended junior high and high school. Sandy graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in June 1970.

Sandy pursued her education at Indiana State University; she graduated in 1975. She was a member of the band at PHHS and ISU. Sandy was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

Sandy served as a 4-H Leader in Markleville, Indiana.

Sandy met her future husband while shopping for someone to repaint her horse trailer.

Sandy and Mike were married in March 1983 in Middletown, Indiana.

Sandy worked at Westfield Steel as a sales manager from 1983 to 1990.

In 1983, Sandy and Mike formed "MWS Quarter Horses" in Pendleton, Indiana. In 1991, Sandy's horse, Silver Nolan, was Solid Gold Futurity Champion. In 1992, Sandy's horse was the Solid Gold Futurity Reserve Champion.

While at a horse show in 1992, Sandy purchased her dream horse, a big Palomino named Seven S Flashyzipper, aka "Mr. Z.". The decision was made to send Mr. Z. to North Texas for training.

Chasing her dream, in October 1993, Mr. Z won the World Congress Show in Columbus, Ohio.

As the proud owner of a World Champion stallion, Sandy and Mike began a distinguished breeding program.

Mr. Z produced 363 offspring. He was inducted into the PHBA Hall of Fame in March 2019.

In 1998, Sandy was awarded President's Special Service Award and was inducted in the Palomino Horse Breeders of America Hall of Fame.

Sandy also raised a 1998 Stallion colt from Mr. Z. His name is MWS IMA FLASHYZIPPER, aka "Frampton." Frampton became a three-time World Champion.

In 2005, Sandy served as President of the Hoosier Palomino Association.

Throughout her showing career, Sandy earned numerous awards. She traveled from Indiana to Florida – to Texas, Oklahoma, and Ohio. She also showed in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The walls of her home are adorned with trophies, ribbons, and pictures of her beloved sport.

She was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was enrolled in the AQHA Breeder Referral Program.

She belonged to the Palomino Horse Breeders of America Inc., the American Paint Horse Association, the National Reining Horse Association, the National Snaffle Bit Association, and the HPA (Hoosier Palomino Association.)

Donations may be made to the Palomino Breeders of America, Hall of Fame, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, or to Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding in Indianapolis, Indiana in her memory.

Survivors include her husband, Michael (Mike) R. Walker of Calhoun, grandchildren; Jon Michael Whipple, Alex Bell, Nathan Bell, Sophia Bell and McKenzie Bell, parents; Elvin and Millie Scott, sister; Sharon Baumgardt and her husband James, brother; Jerry P. Scott and his wife Lou Ann, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A service to celebrate the life of Sandra Lynn (Scott) Walker will be held in the Spring of 2021 with a date, time, and place to be announced later.
