Upon graduation, he proudly enlisted in the Army, served in Korea, and upon his separation vowed never to follow orders again! He had a voracious appetite for everything – food, life, music and any sport that could afford him more scars! He always had a melody in his heart, starting out as a hum, unable to be contained until he burst into full song! College degree in hand, he met his beloved, beautiful bride, Dianne. Inseparable, they lit up the world, exploring and traveling with dear friends.
As an entrepreneur, he spent 25 years in Boca Raton, FL, buying and renovating properties, "making money in spite of himself", he'd laugh! He raised two fine men, Daniel and Scott, who learned firsthand the importance of respect and deep abiding love in a relationship, by watching Matt cherish their mother. His guidance taught them to devote the same respect to their beautiful brides, Rachel and Laura. Matt fell hopelessly in love all over again when grandchildren Madeline and Benjamin were born! Retirement in Sacramento, CA, meant biking, and rafting the American River, befriending and helping the homeless, always with his beloved Big Papi by his side.
Loved by all he met, and missed by his mom, Lorraine, brothers Tommy and Greg, sisters Paula, Laurie and Jules, the Outlaws Jon, Rhonda and Lowell, and everyone whose life he touched!
Invitations to joyfully celebrate his life will be sent in June.
Matt was a devoted rider for the Pan Mass Challenge. Donations to PMC will continue to support the cause.
