NEW CARLISLE - Wanda B. Lucas, 93, of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully at 11:13 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FL.

She was born August 31, 1927, in Ora, Indiana, to Chester C. and Dorothea M. (Brooks) Scott.

Wanda graduated from Knox High School in 1945.

On November 21, 1947, in Ora, Indiana, she married Louis E. Lucas, Sr., who preceded her in death October 24, 2015. Wanda and Louis could often be found dancing, water skiing and playing card games.

Wanda was a member of First Christian Church, Rolling Prairie. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Wanda enjoyed traveling and taking walks, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchild.

Also preceding in death were her parents; and her siblings, Chester Scott, Helen and Robert Crider, John Scott and Myra and Daniel Winter.

Surviving are her three children, Louis (Sandra) Lucas Jr. of Rolling Prairie, Randy (Vicky) Lucas of La Porte and Jody (Jim) DeNeve of New Carlisle; seven siblings, Nancy Scott, Nancy (Byron) Reinhold, Tom (Eve) Scott, Jim Scott, Jack (Kathryn) Scott, Danny (Bob) Scott and David (Joan) Scott; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Head, Geoff (Tanya) Lucas, Andrew (Jen) Heimbuch, Jessica (Tim) Capretta, Nicole (Shene) Lucas, Holly (George Catanzarite) DeNeve and Alison (Maxim) DeNeve; eleven great grandchildren, Emily (Colt) Thompson, Lanie Head, Daniel, Philip and Elizabeth Lucas, Cameron, Anthony and Bridget Capretta, Gwendlyn and Lennon Lucas and Nico Catanzarite; and one great-great grandson, Samuel Thompson.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon (C.S.T.), Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Ransom Ebersole officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. (C.S.T.) until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
