Funeral services for Ola Rene (Ross) Jester, age 73 of Long Glade Lake, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the New Harmony Baptist Church in New Harmony, Texas with Dr. Chris Webb and Bro. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at the New Harmony Cemetery.
Ola passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 in Longview, Texas. She was born February 13, 1948 in Beckville, Texas to the late Elvis and Elvesta (Faulkner) Ross. Ola graduated as Salutatorian from Beckville High School in 1966 and met the love of her life, Ricky, at Panola Junior College in 1966. Ola just recently moved to Long Glade Lake and previously lived in New Harmony for 34 years. She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, the girl's missionary auxiliary, taught Sunday school, served as church librarian, and started the prayer warrior program. Ola retired from the U.S. Postal service after 22 years as a Rural Mail Carrier in Lindale, Texas. After retirement, she enjoyed travelling, reading, fishing and painting. Ola and Ricky were living their retirement dream of travelling and serving through the SOWERS Ministry. Ola was preceded in death by an infant son, Randall William Jester; brothers, Billy and Marlin Ross; and sister, Patsy Ross.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard Jester of Long Glade Lake, Texas; children, Trisha Kirkpatrick and husband, Michael of Brownsboro, Texas, Kevin Jester and wife, Shayla of Overton, Texas, Amanda Jester of Austin, Texas, Rebekah Breedlove and husband, Walter of Greenville, Texas; dear niece, Penny Gathright; sisters, Bobbie Cecil of Beckville, Texas, Mary Bryant of Old Center, Texas, and Kathy Shivers of Carthage, Texas; grandchildren, Clayton and Logan Coker, William Kirkpatrick, Taylor and Gavan Breedlove, Leo, Jonathan, Lauren, Sarah, and Brandon Jester; and by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
