Earl Walker of Hartford, left his earthly home on Monday, April 5, 2021. He was born in Panama on April 2, 1929 to the late Lillian Alleyne and Alfred Walker.
He moved from Panama to Connecticut and made his home here for over 60 years. He married Gladys Floyd and they have six children. Earl worked for the Connecticut Light and Power Company for 43 years. He retired in 1993. Afterward he spent his time with his family.
Earl was a devoted member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years where he sang with the Male Chorus. He was a loving man who cherished his family. He loved to travel, and his children can remember the many trips they took around the country. He was often called by his children "lead foot" because his foot was a little heavy on the gas pedal. He really enjoyed watching football, his favorite team was the NY Giants. He also liked watching boxing. Earl had a dry sense of humor and was soft spoken. You had to listen closely to hear him and sometimes it would take you a minute to get his humor.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 56 years, Gladys; six children: Mathis (Connie) Patrick of Melbourne, Canada; Carla Patrick of Hartford, CT; Robert Patrick of Hartford, CT; Earl Patrick of Jackson, SC; Jill Walker of Charlotte, NC; Mark (Tara) Walker of Danbury, CT. Many grandchildren including Darweshi Patrick, Olivia Ashley Walker, Kyron Terrell, Lukas Gamble, and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Two brothers: Oswald Walker of Hartford and Reinaldo Walker of Chicago IL. Two sisters: Mavis Williams of Texas and Delores Harper of Windsor CT.; And a host of family and friends.
Earl was a man of few words with a heart of gold. He will be missed by all of us but the memories he left behind will keep him alive in our hearts forever.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at The Lodge, 130 Deerfield Road, Windsor. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor
