Edward Allen Ware, 79, of rural Wapello County, died at 11:28 a.m. April 19, 2021 at home. He was born March 7, 1942 in Ottumwa to John Henry and Virginia St. Clair Cornell Ware. Allen married Mary Beth Van Essen on October 4, 2003.

A 1960 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Allen had worked at John Morrell & Co. He owned and operated Allen's Garage, Flowers and More, Allen's Outlet Store and Copy Max Plus. Allen had a passion for life and his family. He enjoyed cars and drag racing.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; his children, Anthony Allen (Joyce) Ware of Bloomfield, John Allen (Amanda) Ware of Pella, Arron Michael (Dani) Ware of Ixonia, WI and Raegan Renee (Jim) Johns of Ottumwa; step-children, Jessica Marie Van Essen of Ames and Rachael Anne (Michael) Murtaugh of Cedar Rapids, 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 half-siblings, John Donald Ware, Jenny Nola Ware, Donna Elaine Ware, Gerald Adler, Myrtle Carlson, Margaret Burns and Beatrice Simmons.

His body has been cremated and per his request, no services are planned at this time. A time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties or Heartland Humane Society. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
