Marjorie L. (Schaefer) King, 79, of Southport, passed away on April 17, 2021, in Indianapolis. She was born on September 15,1941, to the late Herman and Melba (Gordon) Schaefer. She married her loving husband, Thomas L. King, on December 10, 1957. As a teenager, Marjorie and several of her siblings carried paper routes for the Indianapolis News. There she met her future husband, Tom, who was the station captain, at the Fountain Square distribution office.

Marjorie enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and being outside. She also liked to sew and to bake goodies with her children. Marjorie was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history and studying her Bible.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Lisa (Patrick) Smith, of Greencastle, Indiana, Debra (Mike) Elliott, of Huntington Beach, California, Richard (Marci) King, of Greenwood, Indiana, and Timothy (Cindy) King, of Indianapolis, Indiana; her grandchildren: Matthew (Michelle) Thomas, Jennifer (James) Bowling, Julie Smith, Jessica (Darryl) Mohr; four great grandchildren: Raegan, Baylee, Christian, and Macy, and one great great grandchild: Vanessa. She is also survived by her siblings: John (Hilda) Schaefer, her twin, Margaret (Thomas) Grimsley, Joyce (Rex Sr.) Butler, David Schaefer, Herman (Donna) Schaefer, Keith (Debra) Schaefer, Kenneth Schaefer I, and Hope Beaman, and her nieces and nephews: Jeffery, Kimberly, Shannon, Amy, Curt, April, Annette, Rex Jr., Pamela, Stephen, Grace, Grant, Todd, Stefanie, Steven, Melinda, Bradley, Sara, Damien, Dakota, Angela, Nicholas, Paige, Randy, Patricia, Karla, Paul II, Brian, Kenneth II, Alisa, and Rebecca.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Melba Schaefer, her husband, Thomas L. King, a brother, Karl Schaefer, and a sister, Donna Schaefer.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21st, at 11:00a.m., until the time of the funeral, at 1:00 p.m. at the Jessen Funeral Home - Whiteland Chapel. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, in Indianapolis. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home and Crematory - Whiteland Chapel.
