Roger Bennett, 74, of Toledo, Iowa died on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Premier Estates in Tama, Iowa Smith Funeral Home and Crematory in Grinnell has been entrusted with Roger's cremation arrangements.

Roger William Bennett was born on February 24, 1947, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of William and Darlene (Buck) Bennett. He was raised in Maquoketa and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1965. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and received his certification in wastewater treatment.

Roger married Carol Sue (Starr) Evans. They were the parents of three children, Brent, Brian, and Lisa. He worked for Caterpillar for seventeen years and later worked at Amana Refrigeration as wastewater treatment specialist. His marriage to Carol later ended in divorce.

On April 6th, 1991, he married Julie Hutchcroft. They were the parents of Tristan Roger William Bennett, who passed away before birth on July 31, 1992. During their marriage, Roger took on the role of dad to Julie's two children, Bonnie and Larry. Julie died on January 25, 2015.

Roger was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He held special love of cars and always looked forward to going on car rides. He was an avid gun collector. He enjoyed educating people on the Native American culture and religion and collecting Indian and Native American artifacts.

Roger is survived by his wife, Linda Bennett of Toledo; children, Brent Bennett of Davenport, Iowa, and Brian (Ginger) Bennett of Maquoketa; stepchildren, Scott (Brenda) Johnson of Grinnell, Ted (Sheila) Johnson of Grinnell, Jenny May Lester of Tama, Iowa, Larry Hutchcroft-Nikkel of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Bonnie Shelton of Marengo, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tristan Bennett; daughter, Lisa (Bennett) Yarolem; sister, Robin Bennett; and a grandson, Travis.
