Vernie Marie "Berkey" Reed, 80 of Charleston died April 17, 2021 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston due to a long term illness. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a dedicated Christian. She had a love for Jesus and gardening.
She was preceeded in death by Sons: Gary Ray Reed, Donald Gene Reed Jr. and George "Levi" Reed, Mother: Cynthia Elkins, Father: George Foster, Brothers: Frank, Clyde and James Foster and Sisters: Pearl Tootsie Adkins, Nancy Thompson, Jo Ellen Adkins, Lucy Meadows and Granddaughter: Meagan Ashton Reed.
Surviving Are: Sisters: Bernice Elkins of Seth, Judy Estep of Comfort, Daughter in law: Tammy Reed who was the wife of Levi of Avon Park, FL, Grandchildren: Cassie Reed of Avon Park, FL, Dakota Reed of Racine, Nikki (Jay) Rhodes of St. Albans, Dawn Reed of Elkview and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Graveside service and interment of ashes will be 11 a.m. Saturday May 1, 2021 at Foster Cemetery, Dawes Mountain. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of arrangements.
