Glenn H. Hayes, 86, of Terre Haute, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 18, 1935 to Therman W. Hayes and Viola Beach-Hayes in the city of West Terre Haute.
Glenn served in the Army National Guard. He was an ASE Certified Ford Mechanic who worked at Ford Motor Company on Wabash Avenue in Terre Haute for 39 years. He was passionate about cars and loved what he did for a living. He retired in 1995. While retired, He had time to pursue his interests of spending time with his loved ones, gardening, and tinkering in his garage.
On December 10th of 1955, He married Maxine Daugherty. They were happily married for 65 years. Glenn H. Hayes and Maxine Daugherty-Hayes went on to have four children, Theresa Hayes-Turley (Kenny Turley), Patricia Hayes-Miles (Arlo Miles), Therman G. Hayes (Betty Norton-Hayes), and Kelli Hayes.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his brother; Don Hayes; his three sisters, Betty Hayes, Joyce Hayes, and Mary Hayes; his two daughters, Theresa Turley and Kelli Hayes; and his son-in-law, Arlo Miles. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; two children, Patricia Miles and Therman Hayes; eleven grandchildren, Rachell Turley- Lyle, Kevin Turley, Daniel Miles, Andrew G. Hayes, Jennifer Hay, Travis Hayes, Shelly Haynes, Tyler Hayes, Jeremiah Miles, Andrew T. Haynes, and Cierra Miles; ; and several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd street, West Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Barnes will be officiating; burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
