Douglas Wayne James, Sr. was born on August 26, 1961 in Richmond, VA to Sarah James and Arthur Hartman Sr. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Arthur Hartman, Jr, and his granddaughter, DehVanni Annalise James.

Doug was convinced to join Bethany Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Richmond Public Schools. He played little league football and was a die-hard Miami Dolphin fan. He had a passion for cooking and used his knowledge while working at Aeromart located in VCU for over fifteen years. He loved his music, especially Heavy D, GoGo, and R&B.

Doug passed peacefully after a two- year heart challenge. Even though we loved him, God needed him more. His work here was done. His laughter, smile, and outgoing kindness will be forever cherished. He was loved and will be and already is missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Victoria Holman James; his mother, Sara James; sister, Minister Cecelia Godley; his children, Nicholette "Nikki" Broaddus, Dominik "Neek" Tyler, Alicia Tyler, Shamia "CoCo" Spragley, Chorey James, Douglas James, Jr, Micarah James, Shatonya James, Rakeem James, Marquis James, William James, Tyquam Woods, Michael Holman; twenty-four grandchildren; two nephews, Kevin Railey and Marcellus Godley; one great niece, Marley Railey; two devoted friends, Wayne Faggon and LaKiesha Fauntleroy; and a host of friends and family.
