Marlow - MARY CHARLENE ABNEY, 78, of Marlow, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in her home.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ in Marlow, with Jamie Beller officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Charlene was born April 9, 1929, in Stephens County, to Charlie Otis McLearen and Mary Agnes McDaniels McLearen. She was a lifelong resident of Marlow. She attended Marlow and Eastward schools. Charlene married Ralph Leo Abney on March 17, 1947 in Duncan. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2007.
Charlene was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping and animals. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Charlene was a very devoted Christian and was a member of Church of Christ in Marlow.
Survivors include a son, Chris Abney and wife Kathy of Marlow; two daughters, Lynda Sweat and husband Martin of Marlow, and Robbie Inda and husband J.D. of Guthrie; six grandchildren, Mechelle McAdams, Christi Stienkie, Zach Abney, Amanda Abney, Traci Steelman and Michael Bryant; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Lee McLearen and Nellie McLearen, both of Marlow.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and a sister-in-law,
U. B. McLearen.
Bearers will be Richard Pierce, Ray Punneo, LeRoy Walker, Charles Horning, Lloyd McAlister, Jr. and Ryan Smith.
