Last surviving Civil War veteran, residing in Bartholomew County died April 29, 1941, in Columbus at age 96. He was Andrew Jackson Hunter, 1234 Franklin St., who enlisted at Newbern at age 16, joined Company G, Sixth Indiana Regiment. He also served for a time in Company D., 67th Indiana Regiment, then re-enlisted for another three years and was in Company H., 145th Indiana Infantry. He left service in 1866 as a sergeant.
