Dorothy Maxine Cutrer Howell, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021. Dorothy was born to the union of June Newt Cutrer and Ruby Rushing on March 2, 1937 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mrs. Howell was a devoted life-long Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. During her professional career she was an accountant for Pruduential Life Insurance, The Humble Oil Co., Arthur Anderson and The Houston Urological Society. More recently she worked with her husband in their real estate brokerage business until his death in 2014. She was an avid gardener and won several awards for her efforts. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard Harris Howell III; her parents; sisters, Jeanette Jenkins and Cherry Hilborn; and her brothers, Willie Cutrer, June Cutrer, Jack Cutrer and John Cutrer. She is survived by her son, Richard Harris Howell IV and Hillary Hunter Howell; daughter, Connie Howell McKenzie and Maxfield Taylor McKenzie; grandsons, of whom she loved dearly and was especially proud, Maxfield Hunter McKenzie and Alexander Harris McKenzie and fiancé, Lauren Mathews; brother Hebron Cutrer and Janice; sister; Judy Cutrer; numerous nieces and nephews; god-daughters, Amy Marshall Zielinski and Emily Anderson Wasson, and a host of other relatives and friends. Dorothy was devoted to her family. Her greatest joy was being with them and celebrating family occasions and holidays. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Garden of Memories in a private graveside service. The family wishes to express their gratitude to A-med Hospice and The Farrington at Tanglewood for their loving care provided to Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
