Prinzessin Maria Elisabeth of Bavaria [full given name: Maria Elisabeth Franziska Josepha Therese] was the eldest daughter of Prinz Franz von Bayern, third son of King Ludwig III of Bavaria and Archduchess Maria Theresa of Austria-Este, and his wife, Prinzessin Isabelle von Croÿ. She was married at Nymphenburg Palace (Munich) on August 19, 1937 to Prince Pedro Henrique de Orléans e Bragança, head of one of the two branches of the Imperial House of Brazil.
