Walter was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, Case Western Reserve University, Cornell University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was intelligent and quite the mathematician, working as a Chemical Engineer and Sales Person, and later tutoring students for the ACT and SAT. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network. He enjoyed sports including baseball, football and track, his Boston Terrier dogs, and was Catholic.
Walter was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister. He is survived by his children and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Cornell University, Fork Union Military Academy or the Humane Society.
