Mrs. Margaret M. Hafner, 82, Topeka, died Sunday in a Topeka convalescent center where she had been transferred from a Topeka hospital earlier. She had diabetes and other ailments.

She was born March 16, 1890 in Topeka where she spent most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Altar Society at the church.

Her husband, John G. Hafner, died in July, 1968. A son, Matthew J. Hafner, died Jan. 2, 1972.

Survivors include 5 sons, William Hafner, San Diego, Calif., Jacob Hafner, Alma, Valentine A. Hafner, Lawrence Hafner and Lawrence Hafner, all of Topeka; 6 daughters, Mrs. Anna Mauer, Mrs. Ruth Gartner, Mrs. Margaret Mauer, Mrs. Helen Dechand, and Mrs. Marcella Hertlein, all of Topeka, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ciochon, Tonganoxie; 2 sisters, Mrs. Pauline Stolte and Mrs. Barbara Conrad, both of Topeka; 36 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Hafner will lie in state Tuesday at Brennan Funeral Home where parish rosary will be said Tuesday evening.
