She graduated from Washburn District High School in 1951 and was a graduate of Zion Bible Institute.
Dawn married Pastor James (Jim) E. Peters in 1953, together they Pastored congregations in NY, NH, CT and ME. She loved Pastoring with her husband, which was her main career before Jim died in 1991. Her last position was at Wellsprings Inc. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Agency. For nearly 10 years she served as Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director.
Dawn is survived by her four wonderful sons, Randy and his wife, Lilia, of Florida, Joel (Scott) and his wife, Darlene, of South Carolina, Jonathan of Connecticut and Jody and his wife, Jill, of Otis, ME. Also surviving are her five grandsons, Joey, Jeremy of North Carolina, Steven, James of Connecticut and Carrington of Pennsylvania; and one very special granddaughter, Ashley of North Carolina. There are five great-grandchildren, Josiah, Abigail, Caleb, Myranda and EIi of North Carolina. One dearly loved brother, Stephen Barnes of Bangor, ME; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Barnes of Connecticut and Mary Dill of Bangor, ME. She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. James E. Peters; parents, Ervin and Ruth Barnes: brothers, Marvin and Reginald Barnes; and daughter-in-law, Marylou Peters.
Dawn's greatest joy was serving the Lord and was very proud of her four boys and their families knowing that one day they will all be together again.
